Wythenshawe is south Manchester's gateway to Manchester Airport and the work on its doorstep keeps trades busy year round.

The airport itself. The main phase of Manchester Airport's £1.3 billion transformation is complete. Terminal 2 was rebuilt and extended and now handles most of the airport's traffic. Terminal 1 closed in November 2025 and Terminal 3 is being refurbished and extended into the former Terminal 1 space through 2026, with the first upgraded sections opening this year. The headline terminal build is done, but the Terminal 3 refurbishment keeps fit-out, M&E and airside trades on site through 2026 and beyond. Those crews need beds ten minutes away rather than an airport hotel at airport parking prices. Manchester Airport is the UK's third-busiest airport.

Getting to site. The M56 runs past Wythenshawe to the airport, the Sharston Bypass links the M56 to the M60 at junction 4 and the A5103 Princess Parkway runs straight into the city. For anyone without a van, the Metrolink Airport Line runs through Wythenshawe to the airport. From a base in Sharston you can be at the airport, Airport City or Wythenshawe Hospital in a short drive.

The same crew at Briar House on the real £162 seven-night-plus rate pays £3,240 for the whole house, a saving of £3,560 before meals. What a good contractor base actually needs
