Stay near the airport the night before and the whole shape of the morning changes. Everyone sleeps in the same place, wakes a short drive from the terminal, has time for a cup of tea, and leaves once rather than in a convoy. Taxis do run in the small hours around Wythenshawe, but for a 4am pickup you want it booked in advance rather than hailed on the day.

For daytime flights there is a third option. The Metrolink Airport Line runs through Wythenshawe to Manchester Airport, so a tram ride is realistic when the trams are running. For a pre-dawn departure, before the tram service starts, your own car or a booked taxi is the calm choice. Whichever you pick, the point is the same: you are starting a short hop from the terminal instead of a long one.

One honest note on parking

Parking at the house is free, and there is room for more than one vehicle, which matters if two families are travelling together or a crew arrives in separate vans. That free parking is for the cars you keep with you during your stay.
